Directive leaders
Directive leaders provide orders and instruction but don’t accept employee feedback or involvement in decisions. This type of leadership is most effective when there are common or well-known tasks that need to be completed. It can also be effective when there is time pressure to act quickly or when you do not need creativity or new ideas.

Transactional leaders
Transactional leaders use rewards and punishments to encourage employees to obey or meet certain expectations. They focus on supervision and performance of the employees based on their roles and job descriptions within the organization. In these situations, employees are provided a task with clear outcomes and consequences for achieving those outcomes.
Transformational leaders
Transformational leaders attempt to motivate employees toward better job performance by focusing on attitudes and morale. They encourage employees to ask questions and learn, be creative, and seek out their own answers to problems faced by the organization, trusting that employees will do their best to meet the goals set for the organization.
